As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes an increasingly important part of business strategy, understanding how companies are adopting and implementing AI is more crucial than ever.
To gain deeper insights into this rapidly evolving field, we’ve launched different research projects. Each of them is important for using AI optimally in a changing world. And all capabilities influence each other.
AI Capabilities
This academic research project, supervised by Professor Dr. Stijn van der Krogt (Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi) looks at successfully developing and maintaining the capabilities in the area of AI. These capabilities range from purely tactical to highly human.
Taboos and resistance
Taboos are unspoken rules or actions that are considered “unthinkable” and provoke social punishment. They are society’s “thought police”, discouraging individuals from thinking about certain actions. They can be embedded in identity. This study focuses on AI taboos and tension. This research started in 2018, and is now very relevant.
The future of the CIO
How will the CIO evolve? The I in CIO has had different meanings over time. Information, Innovation, ICT, Digitalisation, and now AI. In this qualitative research, we focus on different methods how to redefine the role of CIO.

Taboos and resistance
Yes, we want a thriving AI culture in our organisation. But what is blocking successful implementation? Why are employees afraid, hesitant, or sometimes even resisting the application of AI in our daily work life? We are currently launching our AI taboo and tension research, picking up where we left in 2018. This span of 7 years gives great insights what has changed in our adaption capability.
Main partners:
- Chief Humor Officer, Amsterdam

CIO of the future
What is the role of the CIO of the future? The I of innovation, insight, inspiration or still information? How can a CIO secure the future? Our starting point is that designing technology is linearly complex, but implementing and adopting it by users becomes exponentially complex, as this often capitalises on subcutaneous tensions and unexpected use by people. The CIO of the future dares to ask questions that create friction. Without sleepers no rails. That is what this practically focused study is about, so that the CIO can take steps towards a bright future today
Empowering organizations to harness the power of AI for growth and transformation
We research to understand the complexities of transformation and implementation inside any organisation around the world. Based upon our research, we are able to offer better solutions and services
